Community

Delphi strives to achieve an effective global philanthropic program that supports our business objectives while helping society, particularly in the communities in which we reside. Delphi's three-part approach to philanthropy includes the Delphi Foundation, Delphi Community Relations and Delphi Volunteers.

Delphi's community relations program is designed to make us an integral part of the communities in which we operate. We recognize that by improving the lives of our employees and their families wherever they live and work, we are improving the company, too. The priority also is largely educational in focus, but contributions are tailored to local needs and priorities as well.

Delphi's signature programs are FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) and United Way.

		Delphi Employees Support Orphanage in Turkey Delphi employees at a plant in Bursa, Turkey recently demonstrated social awareness and responsibility within the community by organizing support for a local orphanage.

		Delphi receives two 'Social Responsibility Awards' for environmental projects in South America "Environmental Week" -- a social responsibility program designed by Delphi -- recently received the AEA Environment Award 2008, which is promoted by the Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineering (AEA).

		A World in Motion Makes Science Exciting for Students Fourth and fifth graders at Girard Intermediate School planning careers in veterinary medicine, fashion design and entertainment, among many others, have more to consider after engineers from Delphi and General Motors' Lordstown complex brought A World in Motion into their classrooms.

		Delphi and Inteva Employees Raise $3,900 in Relay For Life Fund Raiser to Help Battle Cancer Delphi Corp. and Inteva Products, LLC employees recently raised $3,900 for the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer. For the fourth consecutive year, the group earned silver status.

		Fifteen student robotics teams supported by Delphi mentors and Foundation in 2008 This season's FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) engineering challenge involved 1,500 robotics teams comprised of more than 37,000 students. Included were 15 teams from areas serving the Delphi plant cities of Flint, Saginaw, Troy and Wyoming, Mich.; Jackson, Miss.; Kokomo, Ind.; Lockport, N.Y.; and Warren, Ohio.

		Delphi Teams with Toyota to Aid Efforts at Improving the Environment Delphi and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America announced a $20,000 gift to the Wildcat Guardian Association today. Representatives from Delphi and Toyota made the presentation of the check to Ken Munro of the Wildcat Guardians during a ceremony in front of Delphi Electronics & Safety Plant 8.

		Black Engineer of the Year Awards Recognize Delphi Business Line Quality Manager Terrence E. Mosley, a quality manager at Delphi Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture, Brookhaven, Miss., will receive a special recognition award for his support of education at the high-school, collegiate and graduate-school levels during the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference Feb. 14-16 in Baltimore.

		Delphi Brazil sites share 'Environmental Week' with area schools This summer Delphi's Brazilian operations celebrated "Environmental Week" following the worldwide International Environmental Day in June with activities at local facilities.

		Two Delphi employees recognized for community service through mentoring programs in Michigan Delphi's Reggie Broussard, received the Jim Mitchell Big Brother of the Year Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint, Mich., and Will Irby Jr. was recently named a finalist for the "Outstanding Mentor Award" from the Michigan Community Service Commission.

		Delphi Formare school project earns award in Brazil The Brazilian Attorneys Association (OAB) from Piracicaba, Brazil recently recognized Delphi for its continuous Delphi Formare School social activities in Piracicaba, where Delphi has a components facility and Technical Center.

		Delphi engineers demonstrate technology to students at Engineering Fair Delphi engineers recently participated in the National Society of Black Engineers 7th Annual Engineering Fair at Shortridge Middle School in Indianapolis, Ind.

		Delphi employees build playground for kids in Hungary On April 20 the biggest playground in Balassagyarmat, Hungary was opened to the public thanks to Delphi Calsonic Hungary Ltd. employees.

		Delphi recognizes student achievement through scholarships in Mexico community Delphi recently awarded 233 scholarships to its employees' children in Matamoros, Mexico who received the highest grade averages in their school.

		Delphi employees participate in 'Walk to Cure Diabetes' Members of Delphi's Ford Customer Team, located in Dearborn, Mich., and their families recently took part in the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's "Walk to Cure Diabetes" in Ann Arbor, Mich.

		Delphi employees volunteer to cleanup community waterway during United Way's Day of Caring Several Delphi employees and community volunteers took part in the annual United Way Day of Caring to help cleanup Wildcat Creek in Kokomo, Ind. The volunteers teamed up with the Wildcat Guardians, a group devoted to the protection of the local waterway.

		Delphi Poland employee efforts benefit children in community A group of Delphi employees in Krosno, Poland reached out to about 40 children at a local orphanage during the December holidays. It has become an annual tradition for the Delphi employees to work as Santa's helpers for the children at the orphanage.
