Delphi Poland employee efforts benefit children in community

A group of Delphi employees in Krosno, Poland reached out to about 40 children at a local orphanage during the December holidays. It has become an annual tradition for the Delphi employees to work as Santa's helpers for the children at the orphanage. Employees individually and in work groups selected from various gift idea cards that were placed on a tree in the plant and delivered colorfully wrapped presents to the children.

However, Delphi's relationship with the children doesn't stop there. Throughout the year; the children are invited to plant family picnics and money is collected for the orphanage during Delphi's Excellence Week, a global celebration that recognizes excellence within Delphi. Delphi has supported the children's home since 1997.

Delphi Krosno's community contribution is not limited to helping the children at the local orphanage. In continuation of a local site tradition, the Delphi Krosno plant also recently participated in the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy). This national event takes place annually to help hospitals all over Poland collect money for medical equipment. During the event auction, Delphi purchased five paintings prepared by students of the Krosno secondary school of arts. The proceeds of the auction benefit the charity and the paintings are displayed throughout the Delphi facility. Delphi has been the main sponsor of the event in Krosno for the last three years.

The Foundation of "Orchestra" was established in 1993 and has evolved into one of the largest non-profit organizations in Poland. Operating on a nationwide scale, the Foundation focuses on saving the lives of children by purchasing professional medical equipment for public hospital units such as pediatrics, neonatology, oncology, and cardiology, in addition to emergency room equipment.

"The Foundation of Orchestra supports hospitals all over the country," said Krzysztof Zuzak, Delphi Krosno site manager. "It is one way we can give back to the Krosno community and ultimately, Poland. Many children will benefit from the medical equipment that is purchased through this organization."

As of 2006, the Foundation of Orchestra has collected more than $64 million for the most modern and highly professional medical systems that are crucial for treating and often saving the lives of children with serious health problems. With the help of the Krosno team, the Foundation continues to grow every year, making a difference throughout Poland by improving medical treatment for children.
