Getting in Gear
The Delphi Advanced Multi-purpose Power Supply Enhanced (AMPSE03B) IC is a bipolar linear regulator IC that has a low quiescent current (250µA with no loads, Ign off), 5 regulated outputs, one high-side driver, and an on-chip switcher circuit. Four of the regulators produce 5-volt +⁄-2% outputs, capable of 750mA, 100mA, 100mA and 7.5mA. The 5th regulator is 12 +⁄-0.4 volts and is capable of 100mA. The AMPSE03B also provides a current-limited high-side driver capable of 125mA. This IC also contains an internal switcher with a programmable set point to maintain the 5-volt outputs down to a 4.5-volt Vbu input, and the 12-volt output down to a 9-volt Vbu input. The switching transistor operates at a nominal frequency of 100kHz and is over-current and thermally protected. Finally the IC also provides a programmable power on reset delay, low voltage reset filtering to allow for short negative Vbu transients, and a turn off delay to allow for processor housekeeping on power-down.
