The Delphi E3 Diesel Electronic Unit Injector (EUI) is an advanced diesel fuel injection system for heavy duty applications. It features the same body profile as the class-leading Delphi E1 Electronic Unit Injector, plus a patented two-solenoid valve technology that enables the system to generate higher pressures at lower engine speeds.
The Delphi E3 EUI has two independent, fast response precision actuators that can change the injection pressure level (up to 2,500 bar) and adjust fuel delivery timing and duration on a per shot basis. This leap in technology gives the Delphi E3 EUI the unique ability to achieve full pressure control at low and high engine speeds. It gives pilot split main- and post-injection along with a rising pressure characteristic during these events, while competitive systems generally maintain or reduce pressure during injection.
Major features of the Delphi E3 Diesel Electronic Unit Injector include:
Benefits
Typical Applications
The Delphi E3 Diesel Electronic Unit Injector is designed for heavy-duty applications and provides the widest flexibility of injection characteristics, enabling optimized injection for differing combustion systems at all engine operating conditions.
Performance Advantages
The functionality of the Delphi E3 Diesel Electronic Unit Injector provides a major advantage for diesel engine manufacturers in the development of US07 and Euro V compliant engines. With optimized hydraulic performance and 1 million km durability (based on accelerated durability testing), the Delphi E3 EUI represents a significant leap forward in diesel fuel injection technology.
The Delphi E3 EUI helps achieve extremely low smoke/particulate levels at any engine load and speed since high injection pressure can be generated across all operating conditions. The low smoke/particulate levels also help reduce the need for large and costly aftertreatment devices.
The reduced size of the Delphi E3 EUI frees up valuable space in the cylinder head providing greater flexibility for rocker and valve layout. The shorter fuel pumping route benefits the injector's hydraulic performance and achieves a more rapid response to signals from the electronic control unit, which has specially developed software and solenoid wave forms that provide full control of both actuators. Using engine sensor inputs, the exact injection parameters are determined to help achieve optimum emissions, fuel consumption, and performance.
