The Delphi Smart Cruise Control with Headway Alert and Stop-and-Go helps to reduce the need for drivers to manually adjust speed, manually apply brakes or disengage cruise control when encountering slower or stopping traffic. The system can also alert drivers when slower traffic is detected in the vehicle's path.

Smart Cruise Control uses a mechanically-scanning, 76 GHz FMCW, long range radar sensor to detect objects in the vehicle's path up to 500 feet (152 meters) ahead. Using the vehicle's braking and throttle systems, Smart Cruise Control automatically manages vehicle speed to maintain a time gap (following distance) set by the driver. Driver information displays indicate the cruising speed and driver-selected gap. With the Stop-and-Go feature, Smart Cruise Control manages speed to a fully stopped condition and automatically resumes the set speed when the driver touches the gas pedal. When the Headway Alert system is active, audible and visual alerts warn the driver when braking is necessary to avoid slower moving vehicles ahead. Drivers can adjust system sensitivity to their preferred driving style.
